Compelling evidence highlights the effectiveness of a range of interventions to promote mental wellbeing. Over the past two decades much progress has been made in the development of scientific knowledge on determinants of mental wellbeing as well as in a range of effective public mental health interventions. However much more needs to be done if we are to continue to improve mental wellbeing. We need positive approaches by governments and non government organizations plus working, evaluated policies and programmes to:

The Clifford Beers Foundation, in conjunction with colleagues and major stakeholders in this discipline has taken a lead role in addressing the issue of evaluating and disseminating research and sharing knowledge and expertise. This is done by the publication of academic journals, presenting a series of international and world conferences and facilitating networks of co-operation.

Following on from the earlier world series of conferences, the 2014 (8th) World Congress on the Promotion of Mental Wellbeing and Prevention of Mental Disorder in London brings together a range of individuals and professional and political bodies with the expertise and the commitment to ensuring the Congress generates and leaves a legacy that improves and consolidates major improvements in the future of mental wellbeing promotion.
